How to scan a QR code

iPhone & Android, no extra app needed

You almost never need a separate app. Both major platforms read QR codes straight from the camera. Here is the quick way on each.

iPhone (iOS 11 and later)

  1. Open the Camera app.
  2. Point it at the code so the code sits in the frame.
  3. A yellow notification banner appears at the top — tap it to open the link.
  4. No banner? Add the Code Scanner from Control Center for faster access.

Android (most modern phones)

  1. Open the Camera app and point at the code.
  2. Tap the pop-up at the bottom or top of the screen.
  3. Some phones use Google Lens — tap the Lens icon, then the code.

When a code will not scan

Move closer, steady your hand, and make sure there is good light and a clear margin around the code. Glossy or curved surfaces reflect glare — a flat, matte print scans best. If you are creating codes, verify them before printing; QRVolt can scan and confirm your own code on the spot.
